Resumo
This research conducted an analysis of the knowledge required to teach mathematics in the
training course for technical teachers in primary education, offered by Colégio Dom Orione in
Tocantinópolis. The study was based on the following problem: what knowledge required to
teach mathematics, associated with the knowledge required to teach mathematics, is present in
the training of technical teachers in primary education, at Escola Dom Orione, between 1986 and
1991? Thus, the research seeks to understand the transformations of professional knowledge
required to teach mathematics in the training of technical teachers in primary education, at
Escola Dom Orione, between 1986 and 1991. The study was based on the documents that created
and authorized the course and the class diaries filled out by the teachers. To develop this
research, research analysis was used, from the perspective of a qualitative approach in the field
of the history of mathematics education, focusing on the methodological approaches adopted. A
study was conducted focusing on the knowledge to teach, carried out by the teacher trainers of
the time. These records were found in class diaries and guiding documents of the Course, aiming
at the relationship between know-how and practice in the classroom, seeking to understand the
aspects of the knowledge to teach, developed mainly in past times. For this, it was previously
analyzed how the teaching process developed during the period in which the course was offered.
The results indicate that the methodological development adopted in the Course, observed
through the documents used in the research, articulates knowledge to teach with knowledge to
teach in the classes of the subject Didactics of Mathematics.
