dc.description.abstractThis research investigated the presence of socioscientific issues (SSIs) in popular science texts (SCTs) and their contributions to scientific education training. Based on a qualitative approach and grounded in content analysis, ten popular science texts published in the journal Ciência Hoje were examined. These texts address themes involving moral, environmental, ethical, political and social dilemmas that are configured as Socioscientific Issues of global relevance, thus indicating texts with formative potential for scientific education. Thus, the analysis of the presence of SCIs in these texts indicated that the relationship between SCTs and SSIs is based on three fundamental formative dimensions: the development of critical and politicized reading, the mobilization of scientific concepts and the stimulation of informed decision-making. These dimensions, when articulated, can favor the formation of subjects capable of understanding science as a social practice, and of looking critically at the development and application of S&T.
dc.description.sponsorshipEsta pesquisa investigou a presença de Questões Sociocientíficas (QSC) em textos de divulgação científica (TDC) e quais suas contribuições para a formação em educação científica. Com base em uma abordagem qualitativa e fundamentada na análise de conteúdo, foram examinados dez textos de divulgação científica publicados na revista Ciência Hoje. Tais texto, abordam temas envolvendo dilemas morais, ambientais, éticos, políticos e sociais que se configuram como Questões Sociocientíficas de relevância global, indicando, portanto, textos com potencial formativo para a educação científica. Dessa forma, a análise da presença das QSC nesses textos, indicou que a relação entre TDC e QSC se sustenta em três dimensões formativas fundamentais: o desenvolvimento da leitura crítica e politizada, a mobilização de conceitos científicos e o estímulo à tomada de decisão informada. Essas dimensões, articuladas, podem favorecer a formação de sujeitos capazes de compreender a ciência como prática social, e de olhar criticamente para o desenvolvimento e aplicação da C&T.
